Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail address, but to look as being sent from another, typically with the purpose to fraud the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a specific record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers globally receive it. The record features all e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and if its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the message won't be submitted and it will be removed. In the event that you employ this service, it'll stop third parties from sending spam e-mails which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain name hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our advanced Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to choose one of your domain names from a drop-down list and type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be approved to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you may also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This option will give you the best level of protection, but it is not applicable in case only your site is on our servers while the emails for the domain are taken care of in a different place. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes as standard with our semi-dedicated hosting services, will provide you with an extremely intuitive interface to enable the SPF security service for every domain name that you host within your new account. Just a few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that then you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send out messages from your emails. In case the e-mail messages are handled on our end and not by a different provider, you'll be able to increase the protection level even further and take advantage of an option for all the outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domains include our MX records. This option will provide you with more control and it will eliminate any chance of anyone faking your emails with the purpose of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable when just your web site is hosted on our advanced cloud hosting platform, while your email addresses are managed by some other provider. If you are not sure what options to select, our technical support team will assist you 24/7.
