In accordance with the policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact info a domain is registered with must be correct and accurate at all times. At the same time, this information is publicly accessible on WHOIS lookup sites and while this may be OK for organizations, it may not be very acceptable for individuals, since anybody can see their names and their personal home and email addresses, especially in times when identity theft isn’t that unusual. For this reason, domain name registrars have introduced a service that conceals the details of their clients without changing them. The service is called ID Protection, Privacy Protection or WHOIS Protection. If it’s activated, people will see the details of the registrar, not those of the domain owner, if they perform a WHOIS search. The ID Protection service is supported by all generic Top-Level Domain extensions, but it is still not possible to hide your private information with certain country-code ones.

ID Protection in Web Hosting

If you’ve ordered a web hosting service from us and you’ve registered one or more domain names under your account, you’ll be able to enable ID Protection for any of them with ease and to keep your personal information safe. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you will see an “ID Protect” logo to the right of each of your domains. Its colour will inform you whether a domain name is protected or not and in the second case, you can enable ID Protection with only several clicks of the mouse. In this way, you can protect your personal data even if you haven’t enabled the service during the hosting account activation procedure. You will be able to renew or to deactivate the ID Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you have a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can activate our ID Protection service with ease. This requires only several mouse clicks in the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you manage everything related to your account. This is where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you will see an “ID Protect” logo, using which you can activate, renew or disable the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-code Top-Level Domain extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so that you will not end up purchasing a service that we can’t provide.
